Hi, I was trying to register a domain and was at the domain configuration page whereby a ID protection add-on was offered. May I know if my identity would be protected if someone does a WHOIS on my website if I do not opt for this option? Thank you!

Hey Rin,
If you don't have ID Protection on a domain name, a whois search will tell people your name and address.
With it, will say your name, and eleven2's address.

In case you haven't resolved this;
Whois protection is offered for personal use, it will mask your name and personal information.
For example, my domain name has Whois Protection:
http://who.is/whois/thomashall.me/
And this domain name doesn't:
http://who.is/whois/...paulkeenan.com/
-----
As you can see, my second domain name "RossPaulKeenan.com" shows my name, contact details etc.
If you plan on registering your domain name for business use you should not have Whois Protection.
Hope this helps you!
