Hi,

Just wondering, how much ram can we use on shared hosting and how much of the server's CPU can we use?

I'm looking at moving hosts but I don't know if I'm going to max out the CPU. I got a peice of software installed as part of my site called Piwiki and I know that it use quite abit of ram if I got many people on my site in one day.

Right now I'm looking at around 100 -150 Visits per day. That not including requests from pingdom and such.

Thanks

Hello Daniel,

There isn't any specific amount of RAM nad CPU you can use on a shared server, but seeing as theres 100+ people on one big server, everyone is sharing it out.

We monitor all accounts 24 hours a day, and if we notice your site is causing very high usage, you will be informed via email.

I would recommend looking into our cloud servers - http://www.eleven2.com/cloud-servers/

They start from $12.50 per month! With 512MB ram, 30GB storage and 250GB monthly bandwidth.

Hi Andy,

Sorry it taken me so long to get back to you. Looking at the VPS, is centos 6 not supported? Also for some reason my discount code is not working. Can you please tell me why that would be? I can PM you the link where I got it from if you like :)

Thanks

Hey Daniel,

No worries. Everyone leads busy lives these days! Its Cloud Servers, not VPS. People think they are the same but they are slightly different.

Just mention the link on here where you got the discount code from and I can have a look for you. Some discount codes have expiry dates so we don't get a huge backlog of old coupon codes.

As for CentOS 6, i'm not entirely sure yet, I'll have to get back to you on that.

Hi Andy,

Here the link: http://net.tutsplus....even2-giveaway/ I found out that I may be out of luck though as it only for shared and reseller package.

If that the case, is it possable to extend it to the very basic cloud server (CS-100, unmanaged)? If you can't do that can you do custom plans? Example 250GB of Bandwidth is way more than what I need and I can live with a little less space on the server.

Thanks

Daniel,

Yes, unfortunately that was only for shared and reseller hosting plans.

We can't do custom plans with cloud. It comes as it is. Try and browse google for eleven2 cloud coupons, let me know how you get on :D

I'm sure there are TONS out there.

Hello Andy,

I found a great 75% off code and that makes me happy :D

Did you get any info on centos 6? I would love to be able to use the latest software as it would have have the secturity fixes and such.

Only 3 things, is it true that that I can't do payments in blocks of 90 days or anything like that like you can with shared hosting?

When I order a cloud server what happen? Do I install the OS like I would if I was doing it in virtualbox at home? Whats get installed out of the box?

The last question, if I go self managed and I get DDOS attacked, does that mean that I am on my own to clean up that mess?

Other than that, I'm almost ready to put my order in :D

Thanks

Hey Daniel,

Hope you had a great weekend! Thats great you found a 75% off coupon! In regards to your questions...

We don't yet support Cent OS 6, but will do soon though.

At the moment, we only do monthly billing with cloud.

When you get the cloud server, it comes with the OS of your choice installed.

And in regards to a DDOS attack, its up to you to sort it, seeing as its self-managed.

If you have anymore questions, feel free to let me know!

Sorry if this in an old thread.

I however thought that CPU is limited to 25% of one CPU core and memory to 2GB on shared accounts?

@bitgeek,

Since last year we have implemented CloudLinux OS. A shared account can spike to 1GB Memory, and have a max of 20 concurrent process.

@bitgeek, we mean 1GB RAM is what your website can spike to. Not storage space.
